Built in 1869, the Church of Panagia Kanala, protector of Kythnos, is the most important religious monument of the island. It is located in the homonymous settlement and is one of the most popular places of pilgrimage with thousands of visitors flocking reverently to worship the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary. Every August at the great festival, the procession and representation of the finding of the icon takes place.
The Christian faith of Thermia people is reflected in every corner of Kythnos as white chapels emerge everywhere, reminding in their austerity and humility, the reverence of the inhabitants of this small island, in the depth of the centuries.

Agia Triada
The Church of Agia Triada is the Metropolis of Chora, Kythnos. It is the oldest temple on the island, with a dome (single-aisle basilica) of great historical value.

Agia Anna
The Metropolitan Church of Dryopida is the Church of Agia Anna. This imposing church welcomes the passers-by at the entrance of the village and celebrates both on June 29 and on Christmas Day.

Panagia Flampouriani
In Flambouria, in the west of the island, on the large rock that separates the beach in two parts, dominates the jewel of the settlement, the Church of Panagia Flambouriani. According to tradition, the traces, obvious to every walker, leading from the sea to the temple, are the footprints of Virgin Mary and in Her honor, Panagia Flambouriani celebrates on August 23.

Panagia Kalolivadiani
With the endless blue of the Aegean Sea in the background, the gaze captures the small whitewashed chapel of Panagia Kalolivadiani that proudly stands on the rock, at the northern end of the settlement of Kalo Livadi. The picturesque chapel honors the birthday of Virgin Mary and celebrates on September 8.
